igor tchkotoua and dan duncan are true workaholics. not only are the two mallorquinos forming one of the most exciting techno duos of our time and play in the most famous clubs worldwide, they always make it to pop up in the studio to work on their releases on sonic society, wig records or like in the case of >deliverance<, the new 12inch on cocoon. >deliverance< starts quite cautious but the track becomes more and more complex – pig & dan give the dj a tool that fits the minimal raver like a custom-made suit. the b side is again one of those tracks that put a smile on your face. in >sly detector<, atmospheric techno sound unites with energetic celebration pleasure, just as we know it from tracks like >after ibiza< or >on to the beat<. the rolling hookline which has the necessary splash of acid is, together with the floating trance layer, adrenalising to such extent that nothing else remains to be done but to raise your hands in the air. the track was already a hit with many djs in 2007, and will be one – chosen in the right moment – on many dancefloors in 2008, too

with tuomas salmela aka phonogenic, we welcome one of the most established finnish techno and house producers, with releases on 2020 vision, poker flat, moodmusic or f-com-munications. salmelas sound has something dark, reminding of the long finnish winters and cold nights. he does not feast in old times or posts the question of oldskool or newskool, but simply has produced something really new, without getting lost in clicks n cuts or doing too much sound research. phonogenic uses sentimental harmonies and stringent direct beats, that dont need complex building arrangements, but come to the point rather quickly and make clear where the journey will take us. similarly to guy gerber, phonogenics productions also are somewhere in between techno and houseand even use elements of trance. however, salmelas productions always make the impression of being well planned and moody

well, ive known markus for a while and hes a damn good producer. hes been here for a while now and has been releasing on labels like maw, raw fusion, sonar kollektiv or deeply rooted to name a few. his music is always elegant and his production has an edge. lately he lets his early rave and techno influences shine through. for remixing, we got lucky to have >redshape<. hes definitely one of the most interesting producers at the moment and has understood detroit techno and house much better than anyone right now. both mixes are lo-fi and dirty, with a proper sexy groove. needless to talk too much about it: if you like real house and techno just.. .

this release shows the gratitude to one of the legendary labels and techno artists, ferox and label owner russ gabriel. the first release on this highly influential label was back in 1993. after listening to the infamous mixmag cd by richie hawtin, pariter label owner yossi amoyal was hypnotised by the way these ferox records sounded. ferox was one of the first uk techno labels. their sound was inspired by detroit techno but what they created was something completly new

dead soul brothers is that man herve again, along with production partner seba. the eight track double pack opens with a four cuts of dancefloor hysteria - the type you would expect from the man herve. it also includes a killer rerub from phones too. the ep then turns into a blissed out, dreamy electronic psyche album reminiscent of rubber soul era beatles not what youd be expecting at all! its very much in that chemical brothers vein one minute bangin, the other all fluffy and deep. limited to 500 copies and totally needed.

if zox was a sculptor, his works would be angled and polished, simple and magically effective. no sound on this record (which is called >more fluff<, which astonishes me) hangs around too long between the acrylic clear beats, the square waves are bellied and cold as vodka from an iceberg, the higher frequencies refreshingly cool as hills in the highlands, and straight lines are the dominating theme by far. this is dance music in itself. the basses live in rich bounteousness which is strictly controlled, though. why boom it when you can bang it? perfect shapes, functional beauty and a refreshing taste will rock you.
